Inspirational story of common sense in Hindi
Inspirational story of common sense in English
His first child was about to be born in a Panditji’s house.
His name was Pandit Vishnudutt Shastri. Panditji was a great scholar of astrology and he had told the midwife to roll the lemon out of the delivery room as soon as the child was born.
The child was born but the child did not cry, so the midwife slapped his feet lightly and rubbed his back and finally the child cried.
The midwife rolled out the lemon and got busy in the process of cutting the baby’s umbilical cord etc
. On the other hand, when Panditji calculated, he found that there is Pitrahanta Yoga in the child’s horoscope, that is, there is a possibility of his death at the hands of his own son.
Panditji was immersed in grief and left the house without saying anything to save his son from this attack.
Sixteen years passed.
The child would ask about his father but the poor Panditine would tell everything about the incident of his birth and keep quiet because she did not know anything more than this.
In reality! Panditji’s son followed in the footsteps of his father and became a great astrologer.
In the same year there was no rain in the state.
The king beat him up. Whoever makes a correct prediction about the rain will get the desired reward, but if proved wrong, he will get the death penalty.
The boy calculated and left.
But when he reached the royal court, he saw that an old astrologer was already seated.
” Rajan, it will rain today at exactly four o’clock in the evening.” said the old astrologer.
The boy matched his calculation and came forward and said,” Maharaj, I would also like to say something.”
The king gave permission.
” Rajan, it will rain today itself but not at four o’clock but after a few moments of four o’clock.”
The old astrologer’s face turned red with humiliation and he also made another prediction.
” Maharaj, hail will also fall along with the rain and the hail will be of fifty grams.”
The boy calculated again.
” Your Majesty, hail will fall but no hail will be more than forty-five to forty-eight grams.”
Now the matter was settled.
People eagerly waited for the evening.
Till half past three there was not a single cloud in the sky, but in the next twenty minutes an army of clouds started rising from the horizon.
It was dark. Lightning started crackling but even at four o’clock not a drop of water fell.
But as soon as it was two minutes past four o’clock, it started raining heavily.
The old astrologer bowed his head.
Hail started falling after half an hour of rain.
The king got the hailstones weighed.
None of the hail came out of fifty grams.
According to the condition, the soldiers arrested the old astrologer and the king asked the boy to ask for a reward.
” Your Highness, they should be released.” The child said.
The old astrologer was freed at the signal of the king.
” Why are you freeing this unknown old man instead of asking for wealth?”
The child bowed his head and after a few moments raised his head, tears were flowing from his eyes.
” Because he is my father Mr. Vishnudutt Shastri who left me sixteen years ago.”
The old astrologer was shocked.
Both came out of the palace silently but at last the father’s love spilled over and hugged the boy crying bitterly.
” After all, how did you know that I am your father Vishnudutt?”
” Because even today you do the calculations correctly but do not use common sense.” The child said smiling amidst tears.
” Meaning”? The father was surprised.
” The sum of the rain was only at four o’clock, but will it take some time for the raindrops to reach the surface of the earth or not?”
” The hailstones were made of only fifty grams, but will some melt while reaching the earth or not?”
” And …”.
” The midwife will throw a few lemons to the child as soon as it is born, will it take some time to take care of the child or not, and in that time the planetary conjunctions can change and Pitrahanta Yoga can also turn into Pitrakshak Yoga, right?”.
A lifetime’s worth of mistakes came alive before Panditji and he understood that he had suffered throughout his life because of the lack of the quality of just two words, and that was-.
‘ common sense’.
