“मुझे खोजो, आरव। मैं यहीं हूँ… राज नगर में, उसी हवेली में जहाँ सब कुछ शुरू हुआ था।”
आरव ने तय कर लिया – वह राज नगर जाएगा।
कहते हैं वहाँ एक हवेली है जो सदियों से वीरान है। वहाँ समय रुक सा गया है। लोग कहते हैं रात में वहाँ से किसी के रुदन की आवाज़ आती है।

जब आरव हवेली के पास पहुंचा, अजीब सी ठंड और हवाओं की सरसराहट ने उसका स्वागत किया। अंदर कदम रखते ही, उसे एक धीमी धड़कन सुनाई दी — जैसे उसकी आत्मा किसी पुरानी धड़कन से मेल खा रही हो।
और फिर… वह दिखाई दिया।
थामा।
लंबा, गौरवशाली चेहरा, आँखों में लाल चमक, पर उनके पीछे छिपा दर्द किसी भी इंसान से ज्यादा सच्चा।

थामा ने बताया कि आरव उसका पुनर्जन्म है। सदियों पहले, जब युद्ध हुआ था, आरव ने थामा से वादा किया था — “अगर हम अलग हो गए, मैं वापस लौटूंगा।”
थामा ने अमरता इसलिए ली थी कि वो उस आत्मा का इंतजार कर सके।
