महावतार नरसिंह की कहानी
🕉️ एक सनातन महागाथा – हिरण्यकश्यप, भक्त प्रह्लाद और महावतार नरसिंह
सृष्टि की शुरुआत और हिरण्यकश्यप का जन्म
बहुत प्राचीन काल की बात है, जब ब्रह्मांड नया-नया बना था। कश्यप मुनि की पत्नी दिति से दो राक्षस पुत्र उत्पन्न हुए – हिरण्याक्ष और हिरण्यकश्यप। ये दोनों अत्यंत शक्तिशाली और अहंकारी थे। हिरण्याक्ष को जब भगवान विष्णु ने वराह अवतार लेकर मारा, तब हिरण्यकश्यप ने प्रतिशोध की अग्नि में तप करना शुरू किया।
वह हिमालय में जाकर घोर तप करने लगा। वर्षों की तपस्या से प्रसन्न होकर ब्रह्मा जी प्रकट हुए और बोले, “वत्स, मांगो जो वर चाहिए।”
हिरण्यकश्यप ने मांगा –
“मुझे न कोई देव मार सके, न असुर। न दिन में, न रात में। न अस्त्र से, न शस्त्र से। न घर में, न बाहर। न जमीन पर, न आकाश में। न किसी प्राणी द्वारा।”
ब्रह्मा ने कहा, “तथास्तु।”
यह वरदान मिलते ही हिरण्यकश्यप अहंकारी बन गया और उसने संकल्प लिया कि वह अब स्वयं को ही भगवान मानेगा।
अधर्म का साम्राज्य और प्रह्लाद का जन्म
हिरण्यकश्यप ने पूरे त्रिलोक में घोषणा की – “अब कोई विष्णु की पूजा नहीं करेगा! केवल मैं ही ईश्वर हूँ।”
परंतु उसकी पत्नी कयाधू के गर्भ में था एक दिव्य आत्मा – प्रह्लाद। गर्भकाल में ही नारद मुनि के आश्रम में रहते हुए उसे विष्णु भक्ति के बीज मिल चुके थे।
प्रह्लाद जब बड़ा हुआ, तो वह स्कूल में अपने गुरुओं शुकराचार्य के पुत्रों से भी कहता – “भगवान विष्णु ही सच्चे ईश्वर हैं।”
गुरुजन, राजा और राक्षस सब चकित थे।
हिरण्यकश्यप का क्रोध और प्रह्लाद की परीक्षा
जब हिरण्यकश्यप को ज्ञात हुआ कि उसका पुत्र उसी विष्णु का भक्त है, जिसने उसके भाई को मारा था, तो वह क्रोधित हो उठा। उसने कई प्रयास किए प्रह्लाद को मारने के लिए:
- विषधर नागों से कटवाया
- पहाड़ से गिरवाया
- उबलते तेल में डलवाया
- अंधेरी कालकोठरी में बंद किया
- राक्षसों से हमला करवाया
लेकिन हर बार प्रह्लाद बच जाता। क्यों? क्योंकि वह विष्णु की भक्ति में लीन था और भगवान स्वयं उसकी रक्षा करते थे।
होलिका दहन और भक्त की विजय
हिरण्यकश्यप की बहन होलिका को वरदान था कि वह अग्नि में नहीं जलेगी। तो उसने प्रह्लाद को गोद में लेकर अग्नि में बैठने का नाटक किया। लेकिन भगवान की कृपा से होलिका जल गई और प्रह्लाद सुरक्षित रहा।
इस घटना की स्मृति में आज भी होली का पर्व मनाया जाता है – बुराई पर अच्छाई की विजय।
नरसिंह अवतार का प्राकट्य
अब हिरण्यकश्यप ने स्वयं प्रह्लाद से पूछा – “तू कहता है विष्णु सर्वत्र हैं? क्या वे इस खंभे में भी हैं?”
प्रह्लाद ने उत्तर दिया – “हाँ, वे हर कण में हैं।”
हिरण्यकश्यप ने गुस्से में खंभे पर प्रहार किया और तभी…

🔥 गर्जना के साथ प्रकट हुए – नरसिंह अवतार!
न आधा मानव, न आधा सिंह। यह थे भगवान विष्णु का क्रुद्ध रूप, जो हिरण्यकश्यप के सारे वरदानों को धोखा देकर उसे मारने आए थे।
हिरण्यकश्यप का वध
न घर में, न बाहर – वह दरवाजे की चौखट थी
न दिन में, न रात में – वह संध्या का समय था
न हथियार से – वह नख थे
न जमीन, न आकाश – वह भगवान की गोद थी
भगवान नरसिंह ने हिरण्यकश्यप को गोद में उठाकर अपने नखों से उसका वध कर दिया।
शांति और भक्त प्रह्लाद का राज्याभिषेक
नरसिंह भगवान अत्यंत क्रोधित थे। देवता भी डर रहे थे। तब छोटा सा प्रह्लाद उनके चरणों में गिर गया और प्रार्थना की।
“भगवन, मुझे कुछ नहीं चाहिए। बस आपकी भक्ति बनी रहे।”
भगवान नरसिंह शांत हो गए और प्रह्लाद को आशीर्वाद दिया।
नरसिंह की महिमा और आज का सन्देश
नरसिंह अवतार केवल क्रोध नहीं थे – वे धर्म की रक्षा, भक्ति की शक्ति और अधर्म के अंत के प्रतीक थे।
उनकी पूजा आज भी नरसिंह चतुर्दशी पर होती है। भक्तों को विश्वास है कि भगवान हर बार नए रूप में अधर्म का अंत करने आते हैं।
नैतिक सन्देश (Moral of the Story)
- सच्ची भक्ति में अत्यंत शक्ति होती है
- अधर्म चाहे कितना भी बड़ा हो, धर्म की विजय निश्चित है
- भगवान हर जगह हैं – खंभे में भी और दिल में भी

Story of Mahavtar Narasimha
🕉️ An eternal epic – Hiranyakashyap, Bhakt Prahlad and Mahavtar Narasimha
The beginning of creation and the birth of Hiranyakashyap
It is a matter of very ancient times, when the universe was newly created. Kashyap Muni’s wife Diti gave birth to two demon sons – Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashyap. Both of them were very powerful and arrogant. When Lord Vishnu killed Hiranyaksha in the form of Varah, Hiranyakashyap started penance in the fire of revenge.
He went to the Himalayas and started doing severe penance. Pleased with the years of penance, Brahma Ji appeared and said, “Son, ask for whatever boon you want.”
Hiranyakashyap asked –
“Neither a god, nor a demon can kill me. Neither in the day, nor in the night. Neither with a weapon, nor with a weapon. Neither at home, nor outside. Neither on the ground, nor in the sky. Nor by any creature.”
Brahma said, “So be it.”
On receiving this boon, Hiranyakashyap became arrogant and resolved that he would now consider himself as God.
The reign of Adharma and the birth of Prahlad
Hiranyakashyap announced to the entire Trilok – “Now no one will worship Vishnu! Only I am God.”
But in the womb of his wife Kayadhu was a divine soul – Prahlad. While living in the ashram of Narad Muni during pregnancy, he had got the seeds of Vishnu Bhakti.
When Prahlad grew up, he would say in school to his teachers, the sons of Shukracharya – “Lord Vishnu is the true God.”
The teachers, the king and the demons were all surprised.
Hiranyakashyap’s anger and Prahlad’s test
When Hiranyakashyap came to know that his son was a devotee of the same Vishnu who had killed his brother, he became angry. He made many attempts to kill Prahlad:
He got him bitten by poisonous snakes
He got him thrown off the mountain
He got him put in boiling oil
He got him locked in a dark dungeon
He got him attacked by demons
But every time Prahlad survived. Why? Because he was immersed in the devotion of Vishnu and God himself protected him.
Holika Dahan and the victory of the devotee
Hiranyakashyap’s sister Holika had a boon that she would not burn in fire. So she pretended to sit in the fire with Prahlad in her lap. But by the grace of God Holika got burnt and Prahlad remained safe.
Even today the festival of Holi is celebrated in memory of this incident – the victory of good over evil.
The appearance of Narasimha Avatar
Now Hiranyakashyap himself asked Prahlad – “You say Vishnu is everywhere? Is he in this pillar also?”
Prahlad replied – “Yes, He is in every particle.”
Hiranyakashyap struck the pillar in anger and then…
💥 The pillar burst!
🔥 With a roar appeared – Narasimha Avatar!
Not half human, not half lion. This was the furious form of Lord Vishnu, who had come to kill Hiranyakashyap after betraying all his boons.
Killing of Hiranyakashyap
Neither in the house, nor outside – it was the door frame
Neither in the day, nor in the night – it was the evening time
Neither with a weapon – it was nails
Neither the ground, nor the sky – it was the lap of the Lord
Lord Narasimha took Hiranyakashyap in his lap and killed him with his nails.
Coronation of peace and devotee Prahlad
Lord Narasimha was extremely angry. Even the gods were scared. Then little Prahlad fell at his feet and prayed.
“Lord, I don’t want anything. Just let my devotion to you continue.”
Lord Narasimha calmed down and blessed Prahlad.
Glory of Narasimha and today’s message
The Narasimha avatar was not just anger – he was a symbol of protection of Dharma, power of devotion and end of Adharma.
He is worshipped even today on Narasimha Chaturdashi. Devotees believe that the Lord comes in a new form every time to end Adharma.
Moral of the story
True devotion has immense power
No matter how big the Adharma is, Dharma is sure to win
God is everywhere – in the pillar and in the heart
Ego ultimately leads to destruction
