शापित राजा की कहानी
(प्रेरणादायक, रहस्यमयी और नैतिक कहानी)
स्वर्णपुर – समृद्धि का स्वर्ग
बहुत समय पहले की बात है, एक विशाल समृद्ध राज्य हुआ करता था – स्वर्णपुर। वहाँ के राजा का नाम था राजा वीरेंद्रसिंह। उनके पास असीम धन, अपार सेना और अटूट सत्ता थी। लेकिन इन सबसे बढ़कर उन्हें गर्व था अपनी अहम और शक्ति पर। राजा वीरेंद्र एक बुद्धिमान और साहसी योद्धा तो थे, लेकिन उनके भीतर धीरे-धीरे अहंकार और घमंड की आग जलने लगी थी।
महायज्ञ और श्राप
एक बार राज्य में वर्षा नहीं हो रही थी। प्रजा दुखी थी। राजा ने एक बड़ा महायज्ञ आयोजित कराया। उस यज्ञ में एक महात्मा ऋषि विश्वरथ को आमंत्रित किया गया। यज्ञ पूर्ण होने से पहले ही राजा ने उन्हें आदेश दिया— “हे ऋषिवर, यज्ञ संपन्न करो, मुझे जल्दी है।”
ऋषि ने शांत स्वर में कहा, “राजन, यज्ञ का समय पूर्ण नहीं हुआ। यह अधूरा रहा तो इसका परिणाम घातक होगा।”
राजा ने गुस्से में कहा, “तुम जैसे ऋषि मेरे आदेश की अवहेलना करोगे?”
ऋषि ने आँखे मूँद लीं और बोले,
“राजा! तू घमंड में अंधा हो गया है। आज मैं तुझे श्राप देता हूँ— जब तक तू अपना घमंड नहीं त्यागेगा, तेरा राज्य, तेरा धन, तेरी सत्ता सब खत्म हो जाएगी। तू जंगलों में भटकेगा और लोग तुझे ‘शापित राजा’ कहकर पुकारेंगे।”
श्राप का प्रभाव
अगले ही दिन राज्य में संकटों की वर्षा हो गई— सूखा, महामारी, विद्रोह और अंत में शत्रु आक्रमण। राजा वीरेंद्र की सेना हार गई। उन्होंने महल छोड़ा और एक दिन अकेले दण्डकारण्य के जंगलों में भटकते हुए भिक्षुक के रूप में रहने लगे।
अब उन्हें कोई नहीं पहचानता था। उन्हें अपना नाम भी छुपाना पड़ता। उन्होंने वहाँ एक साधु का जीवन अपनाया और तपस्या शुरू की।
आत्ममंथन
साल बीतते गए। जंगल में एक कुटिया बनाकर राजा ने साधना शुरू की। कई वर्षों बाद उनके मन में ग्लानि आई।
“मैंने अपने घमंड में प्रजा का भला नहीं किया। ऋषि का अपमान किया। अब यही मेरा दंड है।”
धीरे-धीरे राजा का मन शांत हुआ। अब वे दूसरों की सेवा, गायों की देखभाल, और बच्चों को शिक्षा देने लगे।
रहस्यमयी बालक
एक दिन उनकी कुटिया के पास एक तेज़ रोशनी प्रकट हुई। उसमें से एक चमकता हुआ बालक निकला। बालक बोला,
“राजा वीरेंद्र, तुम्हारा समय पूरा हो गया है। अब तुम परीक्षा में उत्तीर्ण हो चुके हो।”
राजा आश्चर्य में: “तुम कौन हो?”
बालक बोला: “मैं ब्रह्मा का दूत हूँ। ऋषि विश्वरथ ने तुम्हें श्राप नहीं, एक चेतावनी दी थी। ताकि तुम पुनः सच्चे राजा बन सको। अब चलो, तुम्हारा राज्य तुम्हारी प्रतीक्षा कर रहा है।”
स्वर्णपुर की वापसी
राजा वीरेंद्र एक साधु के वेश में ही स्वर्णपुर लौटे। अब वहाँ एक नया राजा चुना गया था लेकिन राज्य में फिर से अराजकता फैल रही थी।
प्रजा को जब पता चला कि “भिक्षुक ही असली राजा है”, तो उन्होंने हर्षोल्लास से उनका स्वागत किया।
राजा ने सत्ता संभाली लेकिन अब उनका व्यवहार पूर्णतः बदल चुका था।
न्यायप्रिय राजा की नयी गाथा
राजा वीरेंद्र ने अब एक नई प्रतिज्ञा ली—
“अब मैं शक्ति के लिए नहीं, सेवा के लिए राज्य करूँगा।”
उन्होंने मुफ्त शिक्षा, निःशुल्क चिकित्सा और सभी जातियों और वर्गों को समान अधिकार देने की नीति बनाई।
उनका नाम अब “धरतीपुत्र वीरेंद्र” कहलाने लगा।
अंत और मोक्ष
जब राजा ने अंतिम सांसें लीं, आकाश में एक ज्योति निकली और एक आवाज़ गूंजी—
“यह आत्मा अब मुक्त है। जिसने जीवन में घमंड छोड़ा, वही सच्चा राजा है।”
राजा की समाधि पर आज भी लिखा है:
“जो राज करता है खुद पर, वही असली सम्राट है।”
नैतिक शिक्षा (Moral of the Story)
- अहंकार व्यक्ति को विनाश की ओर ले जाता है।
- सेवा, तपस्या और आत्मज्ञान से ही मोक्ष की प्राप्ति होती है।
- राजा वही जो अपनी प्रजा का सच्चा सेवक हो।
Story of the Cursed King (Inspirational, Mysterious and Moral Story)
Swarnpur – Heaven of Prosperity
Long ago, there used to be a huge prosperous kingdom – Swarnpur. The king there was named Raja Veerendra Singh. He had immense wealth, immense army and unbroken power. But above all, he was proud of his ego and power. Raja Veerendra was an intelligent and courageous warrior, but slowly the fire of ego and pride started burning inside him.
Maha Yagya and curse
Once there was no rain in the kingdom. The people were unhappy. The king organized a big Maha Yagya. A great sage Vishwarath was invited to that Yagya. Even before the Yagya was completed, the king ordered him – “O Rishivar, complete the Yagya, I am in a hurry.”
The sage said in a calm voice, “Rajan, the time for the Yagya has not been completed. If it remains incomplete, its result will be fatal.”
The king said in anger, “Will a sage like you disobey my order?”
The sage closed his eyes and said,
“King! You have become blind in pride. Today I curse you— unless you give up your pride, your kingdom, your wealth, your power will all be lost. You will wander in the forests and people will call you a ‘cursed king’.”
Effect of the curse
The very next day, the kingdom was hit by a rain of troubles— drought, epidemic, rebellion and finally enemy attack. King Veerendra’s army was defeated. He left the palace and one day, wandering alone in the forests of Dandakaranya, started living as a mendicant.
Now no one recognized him. He had to hide his name too. He adopted the life of a hermit there and started penance.
Self-introspection
Years passed. The king built a hut in the forest and started meditation. After many years, he felt remorse.
“In my pride, I did not do good to the people. I insulted the sage. Now this is my punishment.”
Gradually the king’s mind calmed down. Now he started serving others, taking care of cows, and educating children.
The mysterious child
One day a bright light appeared near his hut. A glowing child came out of it. The child said,
“King Veerendra, your time is over. Now you have passed the test.”
The king was surprised: “Who are you?”
The child said: “I am Brahma’s messenger. Rishi Vishwarath did not curse you, but gave you a warning. So that you can become the true king again. Now come, your kingdom is waiting for you.”
Return to Swarnpur
King Veerendra returned to Swarnpur in the guise of a sage. Now a new king was elected there but anarchy was spreading in the kingdom again.
When the subjects came to know that “the monk is the real king”, they welcomed him with joy.
The king took power but now his behavior had completely changed.
The new story of a just king
King Virendra now took a new vow –
“Now I will rule for service, not for power.”
He made a policy of free education, free medical treatment and equal rights to all castes and classes.
His name now became known as “Dhartiputra Virendra”.
End and salvation
When the king took his last breath, a light appeared in the sky and a voice echoed –
“This soul is now free. The one who left pride in life is the true king.”
Even today it is written on the king’s tomb:
“The one who rules over himself is the real emperor.”
Moral of the Story
Ego leads a person to destruction.
Salvation is achieved only through service, penance and self-knowledge.
A king is one who is a true servant of his people.
