साधु और राजा की कहानी (प्रेरणात्मक कथा)
समृद्ध राज्य और उसका अहंकारी राजा
बहुत समय पहले की बात है, अवन्तीपुरी नामक एक विशाल और समृद्ध राज्य था, जिसके राजा थे राजा विक्रमसेन। वह अत्यंत शक्तिशाली, वीर और विद्वान थे, लेकिन उनके भीतर एक बहुत बड़ा दोष था – घमंड। उन्हें लगता था कि संसार में उनसे बड़ा ज्ञानी, शक्तिशाली और पूजनीय कोई नहीं।
वह रोज़ दरबार में घोषणा करते:
“मेरे ज्ञान, बल और दान के बराबर कोई साधु, संत या देवता भी नहीं है!”
साधु का आगमन
एक दिन राज्य की सीमा पर एक वृद्ध साधु का आगमन हुआ। उनका नाम था महात्मा निर्वाणानंद। वे चुपचाप जंगल में एक पीपल के नीचे बैठकर ध्यान करते और आने-जाने वालों को उपदेश देते।
धीरे-धीरे साधु की ख्याति फैलने लगी। लोग कहते –
“साधु के दर्शन मात्र से दुख दूर हो जाते हैं।”
जब राजा को यह बात पता चली, तो उनका अहंकार जाग गया।
“एक साधारण साधु मेरी प्रसिद्धि को चुनौती कैसे दे सकता है?” – उन्होंने क्रोधित होकर कहा।
राजा का साधु से मिलना
राजा ने महल से आदेश भेजा:
“साधु महात्मा दरबार में आएँ और मेरे प्रश्नों का उत्तर दें।”
लेकिन साधु ने उत्तर भेजा –
“जो अहंकार में है, उसे ज्ञान देना ठीक नहीं। जब विनम्रता आए, तब आना।”
राजा क्रोधित हो उठा और स्वयं साधु के पास गया।
तीन प्रश्न – तीन उत्तर
राजा विक्रमसेन ने साधु से कहा:
“अगर तू वास्तव में ज्ञानी है, तो मेरे तीन प्रश्नों का उत्तर दे। अगर न दे सका, तो तुझे राज्य से बाहर कर दूँगा।”
साधु मुस्कराए और बोले:
“प्रश्न पूछो, उत्तर ब्रह्मा नहीं, अनुभव देगा।”
प्रश्न 1: संसार का सबसे बड़ा सत्य क्या है?
उत्तर: “मृत्यु। यह हर जीव को समान रूप से मिलती है। जो इस सत्य को भूलता है, वही अहंकारी होता है।”
प्रश्न 2: सबसे बड़ा ज्ञानी कौन है?
उत्तर: “जो जानता है कि वह कुछ नहीं जानता। वह सीखने को सदैव तैयार रहता है।”
प्रश्न 3: राज्य चलाने के लिए सबसे बड़ी शक्ति क्या है?
उत्तर: “दया और धर्म। तलवारें राज्य जीतती हैं, लेकिन दया और न्याय उसे बनाए रखते हैं।”
राजा का बदलता हृदय
राजा विक्रमसेन उन उत्तरों से हिल गए। उन्हें अपनी भूल का आभास हुआ। उन्होंने साधु के चरणों में गिरकर कहा:
“मुझे क्षमा करें, मैं अपने घमंड में अंधा हो गया था।”
साधु ने मुस्कराकर कहा:
“जब तक घड़ा भरा होता है, वह ऊँचा दिखता है; लेकिन खाली होने पर ही उसमें अमृत भरता है।”
तपस्या, परिवर्तन और नई शुरुआत
राजा ने अपने सिंहासन को छोड़कर कुछ समय साधु के साथ जंगल में बिताया। उन्होंने सेवा, तपस्या, ध्यान और ब्रह्मज्ञान से स्वयं को शुद्ध किया।
जब वे महल लौटे, तो उनका राज्य पहले से अधिक खुशहाल हुआ। वे अब न्यायप्रिय, दयालु और विनम्र राजा बन चुके थे।
कथा से सीख

The Prosperous Kingdom and its Arrogant King
Long ago, there was a huge and prosperous kingdom called Avantipuri, whose king was King Vikramsen. He was extremely powerful, brave and learned, but he had a great flaw – pride. He felt that there was no one more knowledgeable, powerful and revered than him in the world.
He used to declare in the court every day:
“There is no sadhu, saint or even god equal to my knowledge, strength and charity!”
The arrival of the sadhu
One day an old sadhu arrived at the border of the kingdom. His name was Mahatma Nirvanananda. He used to sit quietly under a peepal tree in the forest and meditate and preach to the people passing by.
Slowly the fame of the sadhu started spreading. People used to say –
“Sorrows are removed by just seeing the sadhu.”
When the king came to know about this, his arrogance arose.
“How can an ordinary sadhu challenge my fame?” – he said angrily.
King’s meeting with the Sadhu
The king sent an order from the palace:
“Sadhu Mahatma come to the court and answer my questions.”
But the Sadhu replied –
“It is not right to give knowledge to one who is arrogant. Come when you become humble.”
The king got angry and went to the Sadhu himself.
Three questions – three answers
King Vikramsen said to the Sadhu:
“If you are really knowledgeable, then answer my three questions. If you are unable to answer, then I will expel you from the kingdom.”
The Sadhu smiled and said:
“Ask questions, the answer will be given not by Brahma but by experience.”
Question 1: What is the biggest truth of the world?
Answer: “Death. It comes to every living being equally. The one who forgets this truth is arrogant.”
Question 2: Who is the most knowledgeable person?
Answer: “The one who knows that he knows nothing. He is always ready to learn.”
Question 3: What is the greatest power to run a kingdom?
Answer: “Mercy and Dharma. Swords win kingdoms, but mercy and justice keep them.”
The King’s Changing Heart
King Vikramsena was shaken by those answers. He realized his mistake. He fell at the sage’s feet and said:
“Forgive me, I was blinded by my pride.”
The sage smiled and said:
“As long as the pot is full, it looks high; but only when it is empty does it fill with nectar.”
Penance, Change and New Beginnings
The king left his throne and spent some time in the forest with the sage. He purified himself with service, penance, meditation and Brahma Gyan.
When he returned to the palace, his kingdom became happier than before. He had now become a just, kind and humble king.
