राजा रानी और सपनों का पेड़
बहुत समय पहले की बात है। “सुखनगरी” नाम का एक समृद्ध राज्य था। वहाँ के राजा अमरेन्द्र और रानी मालविका अपने न्याय, प्रेम और करुणा के लिए प्रसिद्ध थे।
राज्य में न तो कोई भूखा था, न दुखी। लेकिन राजा-रानी के मन में एक ही पीड़ा थी — उनके पास कोई संतान नहीं थी।
रहस्यमयी सपना
एक रात रानी को एक अद्भुत सपना आया। उसने देखा —
एक स्वर्ण वृक्ष (golden tree) है जिसकी शाखाओं पर रत्न जड़े हैं। हर पत्ता किसी मनुष्य के सपने जैसा चमक रहा है।
उस वृक्ष से एक स्वर आया —
“मालविका, मैं सपनों का पेड़ हूँ। जो सच्चे मन से मुझे खोज लेता है, उसकी हर अधूरी इच्छा पूर्ण होती है।”
सुबह रानी ने राजा से यह सपना बताया।
राजा ने कहा,
“यदि यह सपना सच है, तो हम उस पेड़ को ढूँढेंगे। शायद यही हमारी किस्मत बदलने का संकेत है।”
यात्रा की शुरुआत
राजा और रानी साधारण वेश में अपने सैनिकों के साथ यात्रा पर निकल पड़े।
रास्ते में उन्हें अनेक अद्भुत दृश्य दिखाई दिए—
पहाड़ों पर नाचते मोर, चांदी की नदी, और रात को चमकते पत्थर।
कई दिनों के बाद वे एक प्राचीन साधु से मिले, जो गुफा के पास ध्यान में लीन थे।
राजा ने उनसे पूछा,
“गुरुदेव, क्या आप जानते हैं सपनों का पेड़ कहाँ मिलेगा?”
साधु मुस्कुराए और बोले—
“वह पेड़ केवल उन्हीं को मिलता है जिनका मन लोभ और भय से मुक्त हो। रास्ता कठिन है, लेकिन सच्चे हृदय वाले अवश्य पहुँचेंगे।”
उन्होंने राजा को एक नीला दीपक दिया और कहा—
“जहाँ यह दीपक स्वयं जलने लगे, समझो तुम मंज़िल के पास हो।”
जंगल का रहस्य
तीसरे दिन वे एक अंधेरे जंगल में पहुँचे। वहाँ हर पेड़ से किसी न किसी की आवाज़ आती थी —
किसी की हँसी, किसी की पुकार।
अचानक नीला दीपक जल उठा।
राजा बोले—
“रानी, यहीं कहीं वह सपनों का पेड़ है।”
थोड़ा आगे बढ़ने पर उन्होंने देखा —
एक विशाल वृक्ष खड़ा है, जिसकी जड़ें प्रकाशमान थीं, और पत्ते तारों की तरह चमक रहे थे।
पेड़ से दिव्य आवाज़ आई—
“हे राजा-रानी, क्या तुम अपने स्वप्नों के लिए सब कुछ त्यागने को तैयार हो?”
राजा ने कहा—
“हम अपने सुख की नहीं, अपने राज्य और प्रजा की भलाई के लिए आए हैं।”
पेड़ बोला—
“तो यह रहा तुम्हारा वरदान। तुम्हें एक ऐसा पुत्र मिलेगा, जो राज्य में प्रेम, सत्य और न्याय फैलाएगा। पर ध्यान रहे — यदि उस पर लोभ हावी हुआ, तो यह वृक्ष फिर अदृश्य हो जाएगा।”
राजकुमार का जन्म
कुछ समय बाद रानी को एक पुत्र हुआ — नाम रखा गया रत्नेश।
वह बुद्धिमान, दयालु और विनम्र था। लेकिन जैसे-जैसे वह बड़ा हुआ, राज्य के कुछ मंत्री उसे लालच और स्वार्थ की राह दिखाने लगे।
एक दिन रत्नेश ने उस जंगल में फिर जाने की जिद की जहाँ सपनों का पेड़ था।
जैसे ही वह वहाँ पहुँचा, पेड़ मंद स्वर में बोला—
“रत्नेश, जो अपने स्वप्नों में केवल स्वयं को देखता है, वह सब कुछ खो देता है।”
रत्नेश को अपनी गलती का एहसास हुआ। उसने अपने ताज को त्यागकर गरीबों के बीच बाँट दिया।
तभी पेड़ के पत्तों ने फिर से चमकना शुरू कर दिया — मानो पूरे राज्य के सपने पूरे हो गए हों।

It was a long time ago. There was a prosperous kingdom called Sukhnagari. King Amarendra and Queen Malavika were renowned for their justice, love, and compassion.
No one in the kingdom was hungry or unhappy. But the king and queen had one common pain—they had no children.
A Mysterious Dream
One night, the queen had a wonderful dream. She saw a golden tree, its branches studded with gems. Each leaf shone like a human dream.
A voice came from the tree, “Malavika, I am the tree of dreams. Whoever seeks me with a true heart, his every unfulfilled wish is fulfilled.”
In the morning, the queen told the king about this dream.
The king said, “If this dream is true, then we will find that tree. Perhaps this is a sign of a change in our destiny.”
The Journey Begins
The king and queen, dressed in ordinary clothes, set out on a journey with their soldiers.
On the way, they encountered many wondrous sights—
peacocks dancing on the mountains, a silver river, and stones shining at night.
After several days, they met an ancient sage, meditating near a cave.
The king asked him,
“Gurudev, do you know where to find the Tree of Dreams?”
The sage smiled and said, “That tree is found only by those whose minds are free from greed and fear. The path is difficult, but those with true hearts will surely reach it.”
He gave the king a blue lamp and said, “When this lamp starts burning on its own, understand that you are near your destination.”
The Secret of the Forest
On the third day, they reached a dark forest. From every tree came a voice—
someone’s laughter, someone’s call.
Suddenly, the blue lamp lit up.
The king said, “Queen, somewhere here is the Tree of Dreams.”
Going a little further, they saw—
a huge tree standing, its roots glowing, and its leaves shining like stars.
A divine voice came from the tree:
“O King and Queen, are you ready to give up everything for your dreams?”
The king said, “We have come not for our own happiness, but for the well-being of our kingdom and people.”
The tree said, “So here is your boon. You will have a son who will spread love, truth, and justice in the kingdom. But remember—if greed overcomes him, this tree will disappear again.”
The Birth of the Prince
Some time later, the queen gave birth to a son—named Ratnesh.
He was intelligent, kind, and humble. But as he grew up, some of the kingdom’s ministers began to lead him toward greed and selfishness.
One day, Ratnesh insisted on returning to the forest where the Tree of Dreams stood.
As soon as he arrived, the tree spoke in a soft voice, “Ratnesh, he who sees only himself in his dreams loses everything.”
Ratnesh realized his mistake. He gave up his crown and distributed it among the poor.
Then the tree’s leaves began to shine again—as if the dreams of the entire kingdom had come true.
