श्रीकृष्ण की गोवर्धन लीला – जब कान्हा ने उठाया पर्वत
गोकुल की पवित्र भूमि पर हरियाली छाई रहती थी। गायों की घंटियों की मधुर ध्वनि, यमुना के तट की शांति और ग्रामीणों की सरलता वातावरण को सुखद बनाती थी।
गोकुलवासी हर वर्ष बड़े उत्साह से इंद्र देव की पूजा करते थे। उनका विश्वास था कि इंद्र ही वर्षा करते हैं और अन्न उगाते हैं।
लेकिन इस बार नन्हें कान्हा ने सभी को चौंका दिया।
कृष्ण का तर्क और प्रश्न
कृष्ण ने माँ यशोदा और नंद बाबा से पूछा –
“माँ! क्या सचमुच इंद्र ही हमारी गायों को चारा देते हैं?
क्या खेतों में अन्न और जल का स्रोत केवल इंद्र हैं?
देखो, हमारी गायें गोवर्धन पर्वत पर चरती हैं।
यहीं से हमें जल, लकड़ी और औषधियाँ मिलती हैं।
तो क्यों न हम इस बार इंद्र की जगह गोवर्धन पर्वत की पूजा करें?”
गोकुलवासी पहले हिचकिचाए।
वे डर रहे थे कि कहीं इंद्र नाराज़ न हो जाए।
लेकिन कृष्ण के तर्क और मासूम मुस्कान ने सबको मना लिया।
गोवर्धन पूजा
फिर पूरे गोकुल ने बड़े आनंद से गोवर्धन पूजा की।
गायों को सजाया गया, पर्वत को पुष्पों और दीपों से अलंकृत किया गया।
सभी ग्रामीण पर्वत के चारों ओर परिक्रमा करते हुए भजन गा रहे थे।
कृष्ण स्वयं आगे-आगे नाचते हुए सबको प्रेरित कर रहे थे।
वातावरण में भक्ति, उल्लास और प्रकृति के प्रति आभार का भाव भर गया।
इंद्र का क्रोध और वर्षा का प्रकोप
जब इंद्र ने यह सुना, तो उसका अभिमान आहत हो गया।
उसने कहा –
“गोकुलवासियों ने मेरा अपमान किया है। मैं इनका घमंड चूर कर दूँगा।”
तुरंत काले बादल छा गए।
तेज तूफ़ान, गर्जना और बिजली की चमक से गाँव थर्रा उठा।
मूसलधार वर्षा होने लगी।
गोकुल की गलियाँ जल से भर गईं, घर टूटने लगे, गायें और लोग घबराकर इधर-उधर भागने लगे।
भक्तों की रक्षा के लिए कान्हा का संकल्प
जब सब भयभीत होकर कृष्ण के पास आए, तो कान्हा ने आश्वासन दिया –
“मत डरिए। मैं हूँ न! मैं आप सबकी रक्षा करूँगा।”
कृष्ण ने नन्हीं-सी उंगली उठाई और अपने दिव्य बल से गोवर्धन पर्वत को उठा लिया।
देखते ही देखते पूरा गाँव पर्वत के नीचे आकर सुरक्षित हो गया।
गोकुलवासी, गायें, बछड़े और पक्षी सब आश्रय पाकर चैन की सांस लेने लगे।
गोपियाँ आश्चर्य से कान्हा को देख रही थीं और भक्ति-भाव से भजन गा रही थीं।
सात दिनों तक अद्भुत लीला
सात दिनों तक लगातार वर्षा होती रही।
इंद्र ने पूरी शक्ति लगाई, परंतु कृष्ण की उंगली तनिक भी नहीं डगमगाई।
कृष्ण पर्वत को ऐसे थामे हुए थे मानो यह कोई खिलौना हो।
गोकुलवासी प्रेम और विश्वास से कहते –
“जय गोवर्धनधारी! जय नन्हें कृष्णा!”
इंद्र का अहंकार चूर्ण
अंततः इंद्र ने देखा कि उसकी शक्ति व्यर्थ है।
उसका अभिमान टूट गया।
वह भगवान विष्णु के स्वरूप को पहचान गया और कृष्ण के चरणों में आकर बोला –
“हे प्रभु! मुझे क्षमा कीजिए। मैं अपने अहंकार में अंधा हो गया था।”
कृष्ण मुस्कुराए और बोले –
“इंद्र! देवता का कर्तव्य है कि वह भक्तों का सहायक बने, शत्रु नहीं।
सच्ची पूजा प्रकृति और सृष्टि के पालन में है।”
आध्यात्मिक संदेश
- यह कथा हमें सिखाती है कि ईश्वर अपने भक्तों की रक्षा हर हाल में करते हैं।
- अहंकार का नाश केवल विनम्रता और भक्ति से संभव है।

Krishna’s Govardhan Leela – The Divine Miracle of Lifting the Mountain
The sacred land of Gokul was filled with greenery, the melodious bells of cows, and the serene flow of the Yamuna. Every year, the villagers performed a grand worship of Lord Indra, believing that he was the giver of rains and harvest.
But this time, little Krishna decided to change everything.
Krishna’s Question
Krishna asked Mother Yashoda and Nanda Baba:
“Is it truly Indra who feeds our cows?
Is it Indra who grows the crops and provides water?
Look! Our cows graze on the Govardhan Hill.
It gives us grass, herbs, wood, and water.
Shouldn’t we worship Govardhan instead of Indra?”
The villagers hesitated at first, fearing Indra’s anger.
But Krishna’s innocence and wisdom convinced them.
The Govardhan Puja
Soon, a grand Govardhan Puja was organized.
The cows were decorated with flowers, the mountain was adorned with lamps, and villagers sang songs of gratitude.
Krishna danced joyfully at the front, filling the atmosphere with devotion and happiness.
Indra’s Wrath
When Indra heard this, his pride was wounded.
He thundered:
“The people of Gokul have insulted me! I shall flood their land with endless rain.”
Dark clouds gathered, lightning flashed, and torrential rain poured down.
The simple villagers, cows, and children were terrified as water flooded their homes.
Krishna’s Protection
At that moment, Krishna assured them:
“Do not fear. I will protect you.”
He lifted the mighty Govardhan Hill effortlessly with His little finger.
The villagers, cows, and birds gathered beneath the mountain, safe and secure.
Seven Days of Miracle
For seven days and nights, the rain fell without pause.
Yet Krishna stood firm, holding the mountain as easily as a toy.
The villagers sang joyfully:
“Victory to Govardhan Dhari! Victory to little Krishna!”
Indra’s Realization
Finally, Indra realized his mistake.
He saw Krishna’s divine form and understood that he was none other than the Supreme Lord.
Indra bowed down and said:
“Forgive me, O Lord! My pride blinded me.”
Krishna gently replied:
“Indra, a true deity protects and nurtures his devotees. Pride has no place in devotion.”

- God always protects His devotees, no matter the situation.
- Pride, even in the hearts of gods, must fall before divine humility.
- True worship is to honor nature, mountains, rivers, and earth.
