बाघ, ब्राह्मण और सियार – पंचतंत्र की कहानी (हिंदी में)
बहुत समय पहले की बात है। एक जंगल के किनारे एक ब्राह्मण मंदिर में पूजा करने के बाद घर लौट रहा था। रास्ते में उसे एक लोहे का पिंजरा दिखाई दिया। उस पिंजरे में एक बाघ कैद था।
बाघ ने करुणा से कहा,
“ओ ब्राह्मण देव! कृपया मुझे इस पिंजरे से बाहर निकाल दीजिए। मैं कई दिनों से भूखा-प्यासा हूँ और अगर यहाँ रहा तो मर जाऊँगा।”
ब्राह्मण पहले तो डरा, लेकिन बाघ ने वादा किया कि वह उसे कोई नुकसान नहीं पहुँचाएगा। ब्राह्मण को दया आ गई और उसने पिंजरे का ताला खोल दिया।
जैसे ही बाघ बाहर आया, उसने गुर्राकर कहा,
“मैं बहुत भूखा हूँ और अब तुम्हें ही खा जाऊँगा।”
ब्राह्मण घबरा गया और बोला,
“तुमने वादा किया था कि मेरा अहित नहीं करोगे!”
बाघ बोला, “जंगल का नियम है – भूखा जानवर शिकार करता है।”

तभी वहाँ से एक चालाक सियार गुज़रा। ब्राह्मण ने उससे मदद माँगी। सियार ने कहा,
“मैं तब ही निर्णय दूँगा जब मुझे पूरा मामला समझ में आए। मुझे दिखाओ कि क्या हुआ था।”
बाघ, ब्राह्मण और सियार पिंजरे के पास पहुँचे। सियार ने कहा,
“मैंने ठीक से नहीं देखा, कृपया घटना दोबारा करके दिखाओ।”
बाघ वापस पिंजरे में चला गया। सियार ने तुरंत ताला बंद कर दिया और बोला,
“मूर्ख बाघ! तुम जैसे धोखेबाज को हमेशा कैद में रहना चाहिए।”
ब्राह्मण ने सियार का धन्यवाद किया और दोनों वहाँ से चले गए।

The Tiger, the Brahmin, and the Jackal – Panchatantra Story (English)
Long ago, a Brahmin was returning home after offering prayers at a temple near the forest. On the way, he saw a tiger trapped inside an iron cage.
The tiger pleaded,
“O holy Brahmin! Please release me from this cage. I have been starving for days. If I stay here, I will die.”
The Brahmin hesitated, fearing for his life, but the tiger promised not to harm him. Feeling pity, the Brahmin unlocked the cage.
As soon as the tiger came out, he growled,
“I am starving and will now eat you!”
The Brahmin protested, “You promised not to harm me!”
The tiger replied, “In the jungle, a hungry animal hunts.”

Just then, a clever jackal passed by. The Brahmin called for help. The jackal said,
“I will decide only after I understand the case completely. Show me what exactly happened.”
They went back to the cage. The jackal said,
“I did not see clearly. Please show me again.”
The tiger stepped back inside the cage, and the jackal quickly locked it.
“You foolish tiger! A deceiver like you deserves to stay locked forever,” the jackal said.
The Brahmin thanked the jackal, and both left safely.
