पौराणिक राजा रानी की कहानी – सत्य और धर्म का पथ (Hindi)
भारतवर्ष की भूमि हमेशा से महान आत्माओं की जन्मस्थली रही है, जहाँ राजा केवल तलवार से नहीं, सत्य और धर्म से राज करते थे। ऐसी ही एक अमर कथा है — राजा हरिश्चंद्र और रानी तारामती की, जो आज भी लाखों दिलों को प्रेरणा देती है।
सत्यधर्मपुर का स्वर्ण युग
राजा हरिश्चंद्र का राज्य था सत्यधर्मपुर। वे न्यायप्रिय, निर्भीक और सच्चे राजा थे। उनकी रानी, तारामती, विदुषी, संयमी और गहरे त्याग की मूर्ति थी।
राज्य में न कोई अपराध था, न अन्याय।
प्रजा कहती — “राजा हरिश्चंद्र का शासन, स्वर्ग से कम नहीं।”
स्वप्न और तपस्या की शुरुआत
एक दिन हरिश्चंद्र को स्वप्न आया — भगवान ने कहा:
“सत्य पर चलने का दावा करना आसान है, निभाना कठिन। क्या तुम अपने वचनों पर अडिग रहोगे?”
राजा ने शपथ ली।
अगले दिन ही ऋषि विश्वामित्र आए और राजा से संकल्पानुसार संपूर्ण राज्य दान मांग लिया।
राजा ने सहर्ष स्वीकार किया — और सब कुछ त्याग कर पत्नी और पुत्र सहित वन की ओर चल दिए।
कठोर जीवन की शुरुआत
अब राजा बने एक सामान्य मनुष्य — श्मशान में काम करने वाले कर्मचारी।
रानी बनीं एक ब्राह्मण परिवार की दासी।
पुत्र रोहिताश्व जंगलों में रहकर शिक्षा प्राप्त कर रहा था।
कई दिन भूखे रहे, कभी बारिश में भीगे, तो कभी रात बिना छत के गुज़ारी — पर न राजा ने सत्य छोड़ा, न रानी ने साथ।
पुत्र की मृत्यु और अंतिम परीक्षा
एक दिन सांप के काटने से रोहिताश्व की मृत्यु हो गई।
रानी अपने मृत पुत्र को लेकर श्मशान पहुँची। वहाँ कार्यरत राजा ने, बिना रानी को पहचाने, श्मशान शुल्क माँगा।
रानी रो पड़ी — “मेरे पास धन नहीं। मैं उस राजा की पत्नी हूँ जो सत्य के लिए सब कुछ छोड़ चुका है।”
राजा पहचान गया — लेकिन फिर भी भावनाओं पर नियंत्रण रखकर बोला:
“कर्तव्य पहले है, नाता बाद में।”
ईश्वर की कृपा
उनकी सच्चाई देखकर स्वयं भगवान विष्णु, ब्रह्मा और शिव प्रकट हुए।
उन्होंने कहा,
“हरिश्चंद्र, तुमने सिद्ध कर दिया कि सत्य की राह भले कठिन हो, पर वह मोक्ष की ओर ले जाती है।”
भगवान ने रोहिताश्व को पुनर्जीवित किया, राज्य पुनः सौंपा और यशश्वीता का वरदान दिया।
कथा से शिक्षा
- सत्य के लिए भले ही सब कुछ त्यागना पड़े, पर उसका फल अमर होता है।
- स्त्री केवल सहधर्मिणी नहीं होती, वह पति का आध्यात्मिक बल भी होती है।
- सच्चा धर्म केवल पूजा में नहीं, आचरण और संकल्प में होता है।

Their son Rohitashva wandered through ashrams and forests for learning. They had no food, no comforts — but never a word of lie or complaint. One day, Rohitashva died due to a snake bite. Taramati, devastated, brought the body to the cremation ground. Harishchandra, unaware of her identity, demanded cremation fees. When Taramati revealed her plight, saying, Just as the moment of despair arrived, the gods appeared.
