मालवा की राजकुमारी – वैदेही
दक्षिण दिशा में स्थित था मालवा, एक सुंदर राज्य जो अपने सांस्कृतिक वैभव और सभ्यता के लिए प्रसिद्ध था। वहाँ की राजकुमारी थी वैदेही — एक तेजस्वी, विदुषी और दयालु स्त्री।
वैदेही केवल सुंदर ही नहीं थी, वह लोकसेवा, शिक्षण और न्यायप्रियता के लिए प्रख्यात थी।
पहली झलक
राजा अर्जुनदेव एक दिन मालवा के उत्सव में आमंत्रित हुआ। महल में सबकी निगाहें उसकी वीरता और शौर्य पर थीं, लेकिन उसकी निगाहें थीं एक साधारण वेशभूषा में मंदिर की सीढ़ियों पर बैठी राजकुमारी पर।
वह मंदिर में बच्चों को कहानियाँ सुना रही थी।
उस क्षण, एक राजा का हृदय हिल गया।
धीरे-धीरे प्रेम की शुरुआत
राजा ने जानबूझकर अपने ठहरने की अवधि बढ़ा दी। प्रतिदिन वह मंदिर जाता, कभी जनसभा में बैठता, और हर अवसर पर रानी से संवाद की कोशिश करता।

“महाराज, रानी जी से कब विवाह कर रहे हैं?”

“अगर रानी जी इजाज़त दें, तो आज ही…”
वैदेही कुछ पल चुप रही, फिर बोली:
“राजा केवल राज्य के लिए नहीं होता, वह आदर्श भी होता है। और मैं चाहती हूँ कि मेरा जीवन साथी पहले एक अच्छा इंसान हो।”
राजा ने कहा:

लेकिन वैदेही ने दरबार में कहा:
“अगर प्रेम सच्चा हो, तो वह मर्यादा को नहीं तोड़ता, उसे और ऊँचा बनाता है।”
प्रस्ताव और मिलन
किरणगढ़ में एक महोत्सव के दौरान, हजारों प्रजाजन के सामने राजा अर्जुनदेव ने घोषणा की:
“आज मैं सत्ता से नहीं, प्रेम से विवाह करने आया हूँ। वैदेही, क्या तुम मेरी रानी बनोगी?”
वैदेही ने हाथ बढ़ाया और कहा:
“मैं रानी नहीं, तुम्हारी संकल्प-शक्ति बनूँगी। मैं तुम्हारे साथ हर धर्म, हर युद्ध और हर सेवा में खड़ी रहूँगी।”
विवाह और उसके बाद
उनका विवाह प्रेम और समानता का प्रतीक बन गया।
