हाथी और कुत्ता – पंचतंत्र कहानी

बहुत समय पहले, एक छोटे से गाँव में एक राजा का हाथी रहता था। वह हाथी राजकीय कामों में प्रयोग किया जाता था और बहुत बलशाली था। हाथी का रहने का स्थान विशाल अस्तबल था।

🐘 हाथी और कुत्ते की दोस्ती

अस्तबल के पास ही एक दुबला-पतला आवारा कुत्ता भी रहता था। एक दिन वह खाने की तलाश में हाथी के अस्तबल में चला गया। वहाँ उसे बचा हुआ भोजन मिला। धीरे-धीरे वह रोज़ वहीं आने लगा।

हाथी ने भी उस कुत्ते को देखना शुरू किया। समय बीतते-बीतते दोनों के बीच एक अनोखी दोस्ती हो गई। हाथी और कुत्ता साथ-साथ खेलते, खाते और एक-दूसरे के साथ खुशी बाँटते।

🏠 कुत्ते की बिक्री

एक दिन गाँव का एक व्यापारी उस कुत्ते को देख कर बहुत प्रभावित हुआ। उसने अस्तबल के रखवाले से वह कुत्ता खरीद लिया और उसे अपने घर ले गया।

अब हाथी अकेला पड़ गया। वह उदास रहने लगा। न ठीक से खाता, न नहाता, न काम करता। राजा ने देखा कि उसका हाथी बीमार सा हो गया है।

👑 राजा की चिंता

राजा ने अपने मंत्रियों से पूछा –
“हमारा हाथी क्यों इतना उदास है?”

तब एक समझदार मंत्री ने कहा –
“महाराज, हाथी का कोई सच्चा साथी रहा होगा जो अब उससे अलग हो गया है। जब तक उसका दोस्त वापस नहीं आएगा, यह ठीक नहीं होगा।”

🐶 दोस्त की वापसी

राजा ने तुरंत आदेश दिया कि कुत्ते को खोजकर लाया जाए। जब कुत्ता वापस आया और हाथी से मिला, तो हाथी खुशी से झूम उठा। उसने फिर से खाना-पीना शुरू कर दिया और वह पहले की तरह मजबूत और प्रसन्न हो गया।

Long ago, in a small village, there lived a royal elephant in the king’s stable. The elephant was strong and loyal, used in royal duties. His residence was a large stable near the palace.

Nearby, there lived a thin, stray dog. One day, while searching for food, the dog entered the elephant’s stable and found leftovers to eat. Soon, he began to visit every day.

The elephant noticed him and slowly, a bond of true friendship grew between them. They would eat together, play together, and share joy with each other.

🏠 The Dog is Sold

One day, a merchant noticed the dog and admired him. He bought the dog from the stable keeper and took him away.

Now, the elephant was left alone. He became sad, stopped eating properly, and refused to work. The king noticed that his elephant was growing weak and depressed.

👑 The King’s Concern

The king asked his ministers –
“Why has my elephant become so sad?”

A wise minister replied –
“Your Majesty, the elephant had a dear friend. Unless they are reunited, the elephant will not regain his happiness.”

🐶 The Reunion

The king immediately ordered the dog to be brought back. As soon as the dog returned, the elephant rejoiced with happiness. He started eating again and became strong and cheerful like before.

True friendship knows no boundaries of size, age, or species.
